Elizabeth the therapist...
After more than 20 years as a Clinical Psychologist and Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, I felt moved to take a step in a new direction and offer ultra-brief, non-clinical, coaching-like sessions and workshops: integrating consultation, with creative mindfulness and intention-setting rituals for personal development, and for navigating life-transitions.
I continue to offer traditional psychotherapy (with a psychoanalytic frame) at another practice in Brisbane. While Ruthellen is a uniquely different offering, I bring across various strengths from the realm of psychotherapy including: an approach that is process-oriented and intensive in its attentiveness to emotional and subjective experiences of clients; a theoretical and practical understanding of unconscious influences on relationships and behaviour; and a client-centred and empowering frame that offers support while honouring the client as the holder of their own initiative and will.

Elizabeth the artist...
One of the unique aspects of Ruthellen's services is the option to have Elizabeth design and create of purpose-built items for use in personal ceremonies.
As a process for the client: Those who wish to include an art therapy type workshop in their service may find the experience of creating and building their symbols as a powerful form of mindfulness and emotion-processing, this may result in movement of stuck energy not only through the process of making something, but also offering potential 'closure' in its destruction; power in its existence as a grounding point or reminder; or beacon of hope if 'planted' in a nurturing space that allows the Earth element to digest and transmute it.
I am truly excited about having the opportunity to support clients in their creative-expressive movement of emotion, but also to have the opportunity to use my own intuition and creativity to build sculptures and materials for others to use.
Until now, my creative and personal process in this area has been a private one, so for now, if you'd like to see what it is that Ruthellen can produce, you will have to book! But as I offer this aspect of my work in a new way over time, I will be building a gallery as the pieces and materials emerge. Updates will be posted on this website and on my instagram page (where permission is given). So stay tuned!
